About the role

We are looking for an experienced GCP Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize the Google Cloud infrastructure supporting our growing portfolio of internal business applications. The environment currently includes 40+ Firebase and Google Cloud projects supporting applications used by teams across inventory, merchandising, operations, and wholesale. The primary focus of this role is Google Cloud administration, ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in AI technologies who can support AI-related cloud infrastructure and integrations as business needs evolve. The ideal candidate is a hands-on cloud professional who is adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working across different areas of the Google Cloud ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Google Cloud Administration (Primary Focus)

• Manage and maintain GCP projects, resources, services, and organizational structures.
• Administer IAM, service accounts, permissions, and organizational policies.
• Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, availability, and security.
• Manage cloud resource provisioning, configurations, and lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities to optimize cloud spending, resource utilization, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain cloud governance standards and operational documentation.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and coordinate with Google's support partners when necessary.

Cloud Security & Reliability

• Implement and maintain cloud security best practices, including least-privilege access and identity management.
• Monitor security risks, misconfigurations, and potential vulnerabilities.
• Support backup, recovery, monitoring, and incident response processes.
• Maintain reliable and secure cloud services across multiple projects.

AI & Cloud Integration

• Support the infrastructure and cloud services required for AI-powered applications and integrations.
• Work with development and business teams to enable AI capabilities within Google Cloud.
• Apply knowledge of AI technologies, including generative AI, LLM integrations, and Google Cloud AI services.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate cloud services to support new AI use cases, considering security, scalability, and cost.
• Help establish secure and reliable infrastructure for AI workloads.

Firebase & Application Platform Support

• Administer and maintain existing Firebase environments, including Hosting, Firestore, Cloud Functions, and Authentication.
• Support application deployments, access management, and configuration.
• Troubleshoot Firebase and serverless infrastructure issues.
• Work with application builders to establish secure and reliable deployment practices.

Automation & DevOps

• Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure automation and provisioning processes.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployments through GitHub Actions.
• Use scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Assist with platform upgrades, configuration management, and cloud service integrations.

Must have

• 4+ years of hands-on experience administering Google Cloud Platform in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of GCP administration, including project management, IAM, service accounts, organizational policies, and cloud resource management.
• Solid understanding of cloud security, monitoring, troubleshooting, and cost optimization.
• Strong background in AI technologies, with experience supporting AI-powered solutions, integrations, or AI workloads in cloud environments.
• Working knowledge of Google Cloud services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Secret Manager, and related services.
• Experience with cloud automation and scripting using Python, Bash, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes and infrastructure management.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to evolving technical requirements, and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Firebase, including Firestore, Authentication, Hosting, and Cloud Functions.
• Experience with Google Cloud AI services, such as Vertex AI and Gemini APIs.
• Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Familiarity with GitHub Actions and cloud deployment automation.
• Knowledge of BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Scheduler, and API integrations.
• Experience supporting serverless applications or internally developed business tools.
• Google Cloud professional certifications.
• Experience working in retail, ecommerce, or supply chain environments.
